Gina and Adam's New York City Engagement / by Christian Hernandez

In April 2022, Adam reached out to me needing a wedding photographer. He was referred to me by a mutual contact from New York City. I had already moved to Orlando, FL by April and was no longer living in NYC at the time, but I’m always happy to travel when the job requires it. He is an old school romantic Italian guy who had all the love for his bride-to-be Gina and was not afraid to show it.

We met through a Google Meet one day to work out the logistics. I told him I’d love to photograph his wedding in June and he hired me as their photographer.

In my wedding packages, I always include an Engagement shoot. When possible, I like to get to know the couple before the wedding day by photographing an engagement shoot for them. It helps us get familiar with each other so that when we get to the wedding day, we can eliminate the variable of meeting each other for the first time.

I traveled to New York in May to photograph their engagement, but the only day we were both available ended up having pouring rain all day. It was disappointing because I traveled, Gina had her hair done the day prior, and we were all excited and prepared for the shoot. Unfortunately the rain set us back and we had to reschedule for June, praying that we didn't get rained out a second time.

June came and we got the perfect day for engagement photos.

The first couple of photos are at Gina’s family’s property in Brooklyn. This was special for them because this property has been in the family for 100 years and it was important for them to have some photos as a couple in front of it. After this, we drove and walked through several parts of Brooklyn.

Here is some of what we captured.
